Nigerian Army Rescues Oriire Pupils, Hands Over to Oyo

The Nigerian Army officially handed over the rescued pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area to the Oyo State Government following their release after 56 days in captivity. The handover took place after a 48-hour period of medical assessment and psychological evaluation conducted by the Nigerian Army Medical Services at Odogbo Barrack in Ibadan.

During the handover ceremony, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde assured that the welfare of the victims would remain a priority and that necessary support would be provided to enable them to return to school. Mr.

Alamu, speaking on behalf of the victims, expressed gratitude to the government and security agencies for their efforts in securing the release, despite the challenges faced during the ordeal. Maj Gen Chinedu Nnebeif emphasized the importance of proper care for the victims and the disruption of the abductors' logistics network, which facilitated the successful rescue operation.
