BREAKING: NLC Gives FG Seven-Day Ultimatum Over NSITF, PenCom Crisis

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address the crisis at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and the National Pension Commission (PenCom). NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero warned of industrial unrest if the government fails to act.

Ajaero accused the government of illegally diverting worker contributions to national revenue, violating NSITF statutes, and attempting to amend the NSITF Act to gain control of worker funds. The NLC demanded the return of diverted funds within seven working days and the constitution of a PenCom Governing Board in compliance with the law.

The NLC also criticized the dissolution of the Edo State Administrative Council and warned of potential political interference in pension funds. Failure to address these issues could lead to further unrest, the NLC stated.
