Peter Obi and Kwankwaso Join NDC for 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former presidential flagbearer of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This development was announced shortly after Obi resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday, amid internal crises within the party.

The two prominent political figures were received at the NDC national headquarters in Abuja by the party's national leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, and the national chairman, Mose Cleopa. Their defection is viewed as a major political boost for the NDC, enhancing the party's nationwide confidence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sources within the party indicate that this move is part of a broader political realignment currently taking shape across opposition circles, preparing for the intensifying presidential election contest. Although neither Obi nor Kwankwaso has formally declared their interest in the 2027 presidential race, political observers believe this move signals a renewed position ahead of the contest.
