Obi and Kwankwaso Form Alliance for ADC Primaries

Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Kano State governor, have reportedly formed a political alliance in preparation for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries. This alliance is expected to be officially announced soon, with Kwankwaso anticipated to run as Obi's vice presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.

Sources indicate that the deal was sealed in Abuja through back-channel negotiations coordinated by senior ADC stakeholders, aiming for a broad-based ticket. The alliance is expected to challenge other ADC presidential aspirants, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The development has generated significant online support, described as the "Obi-Kwankwaso movement." This alliance aims to merge Obi's support base from the South East and South South with Kwankwaso's Kwankwasiyya movement from the North West, thereby strengthening the ADC's electoral map ahead of the elections.
