Plateau Senator Defects to APC Amid Political Realignment

Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang representing Plateau North Senatorial District has officially defected from the Action Democratic Party (ADP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on January 29, 2026. Dachungyang cited irreconcilable differences within ADP as the reason for his defection.

He mentioned that after extensive consultations with constituents, political associates, and stakeholders, he decided to join APC as it offers a suitable platform to continue serving his constituency effectively. This defection comes amidst ongoing political realignments in Plateau State, following Governor Caleb Mutfwang's decision to join the APC in December 2025.

Dachungyang's move is seen as a commitment to good governance and inclusive development, aligning with the APC's political platform.
