President Tinubu Nominates Ismail Abba Yusuf as NAHCON Chairman

President Tinubu has nominated Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nation Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). The appointment, subject to Senate confirmation as per the NAHCON Act of 2026, was disclosed in a statement issued by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Ambassador Yusuf, a seasoned career diplomat who served as Nigeria's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkey from 2021 to 2024, is expected to replace Professor Abdullahi Usman, who resigned earlier. President Tinubu has formally written to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, seeking an expedited confirmation process for Ambassador Yusuf.
