Pro-Tinubu Protest in Abuja Over Oyo Kidnappings

On Saturday, a pro-Tinubu protest erupted in Abuja, aimed at drawing attention to the abduction of 39 students and seven teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. The demonstrators accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of politicizing the tragedy, asserting that the situation was linked to broader political ambitions.

The abduction occurred during a violent attack on May 15, 2026, when armed men on motorcycles stormed the school, resulting in the death of a teacher and the kidnapping of the victims. Despite intensified security operations, including surveillance efforts by the Nigerian Air Force, there has been no official breakthrough in the rescue operations.

The protestors carried placards defending President Tinubu and criticized Governor Makinde, chanting slogans in support of Tinubu and demanding that he be allowed to work. A counter-protest also took place, faulting Makinde's claims regarding the kidnappings.
