BREAKING: ‘Reforms on Track’ — WTO Chief Okonjo-Iweala Commends Tinubu, Suggests Next Steps

WTO Chief Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala commended President Bola Tinubu for his economic reforms, stating they are a step in the right direction.

During a meeting with 146 Nigerian businesswomen at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, she praised Tinubu's efforts and suggested that more measures to stimulate growth should be prioritized. She emphasized the need for a robust social safety net to cushion the impact of ongoing reforms and put money in the hands of Nigerians.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala's visit comes ahead of the end of her first term as WTO chief on August 31, 2025, and the start of her second term on September 1, 2025.

She made history as the first African and first woman to head the global trade body in 2021.
