Rivers Chief Judge Rejects Impeachment Request Against Governor Fubara

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Chibuzor Simeon Amadi, officially declined the Rivers State House of Assembly's request to constitute a panel to investigate Governor Siminalayi Fubara for alleged gross misconduct. Justice Amadi cited an existing court order that bars him from entertaining any communication regarding the impeachment process.

This move effectively stalls the legislature's efforts to remove the governor. The Assembly had previously issued an impeachment notice against Governor Fubara and his deputy for various constitutional breaches and financial improprieties.
