Amaechi Rejects ADC Primary Results Over Voter Disenfranchisement

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transport and ex-Governor of Rivers State, publicly rejected the results of the presidential primary conducted by the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He expressed concerns over widespread irregularities and voter disenfranchisement, claiming that nearly 80% of party members nationwide were denied the opportunity to participate in the voting process.

Amaechi described the announced results as concocted and stated that he would not accept outcomes that did not reflect the values the ADC pledged to uphold. He accused the party leadership of engaging in practices that contradict democratic principles, criticizing the Independent National Electoral Commission for not condemning electoral malpractice.

His rejection of the primary results adds tension to the opposition political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, as reactions continue to emerge from the recent party primaries across the country.
