Saudi Arabia Accuses Houthis of Civilian Attacks

Saudi Arabia has accused Yemen's Houthi rebels of launching attacks on civilian and economic targets in four southern provinces—Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan, and Najran—resulting in at least 73 injuries, including women and children. Major-General Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, described these attacks as a "dangerous escalation" and a "blatant violation" of Saudi sovereignty.

He stated that the coalition would take "all necessary operational measures" to address the threat. The Saudi Ministry confirmed that these strikes occurred early on Tuesday, September 8, causing fires and prompting temporary shutdowns of operations.

In response, Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed their military conducted a large-scale operation using ballistic missiles and drones, citing over 120 Saudi air raids on Yemen in the preceding days as justification. The conflict has escalated since a UN-brokered truce ended, with significant casualties reported, including 1,078 killed or wounded since August 24.
