Sharia Council Urges Tinubu to Sack INEC Chairman Over Alleged Genocide Report

The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) has urged President Bola Tinubu to sack the newly appointed INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, over a controversial legal document authored years ago.

The document allegedly contains biased statements against Muslims in northern Nigeria, accusing Amupitan of lacking neutrality as the head of the electoral body. The Council highlighted the ongoing violence affecting both Muslim and Christian communities in northern and north-central Nigeria, emphasizing that Muslims are also victims.

They condemned any attempt to link the current situation to historical events like the 19th-century genocide.
