Sharia Council Urges Tinubu to Review INEC Appointment Over Alleged Anti-Muslim Paper

The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the appointment of Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan as the Chairman of INEC. This request follows allegations that a legal paper authored by Amupitan is divisive and anti-Muslim, misrepresenting historical events in Northern Nigeria.

The SCSN expressed deep concerns over the alleged content of the paper, describing it as toxic and unfit for someone overseeing Nigeria's democratic process. The Council criticized the paper for allegedly distorting historical facts and failing to acknowledge the suffering of Muslims in the region due to violence and extremism.
