Tinubu Appoints Joseph Tegb as New Minister of Power

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegb as the new Minister of Power, pending Senate confirmation. This appointment follows the resignation of former Minister Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue electoral office.

Tegb, who hails from Oyo State, has 35 years of experience in both public and private sectors, including a significant role as a former senior partner and head of advisory services at KPMG Africa. His expertise encompasses fiscal policy reform and regulatory frameworks, and he has led various initiatives aimed at transforming governance.

Currently, he serves as the Director of the Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), where he is responsible for strengthening bilateral development cooperation. His experience includes substantial engagement within the power sector, particularly with regulatory institutions such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).

Upon confirmation, Tegb is expected to leverage his extensive expertise to advance critical reforms and improve outcomes in the Nigerian power sector.
