Tinubu Orders Resignation of Appointees for Elections

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a directive requiring all political appointees who intend to participate in the upcoming general elections to resign from their positions. The deadline for this resignation is set for March 31.

The instruction was communicated through a circular issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. The president emphasized that this resignation is necessary to uphold the integrity of the administration and to renew hope in the governance agenda, particularly as the political season intensifies.

The order applies to ministers, commissioners, special advisers, and heads of government agencies who plan to run in the next electoral cycle. This move is aimed at preventing any potential conflicts of interest as the political landscape becomes more competitive.
