ADC Urges Supreme Court for Timely Judgment on Leadership

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally requested the Supreme Court of Nigeria to expedite its judgment regarding an appeal related to the party's leadership. In a letter dated April 28, 2026, addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the ADC expressed concern that a delay in the court's decision could jeopardize its participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The party's lead counsel, Mr. Shuaibu Aruwa SAN, highlighted that the apex court had previously heard the case on April 22, 2026, but had reserved its judgment.

The ADC emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already acted on a lower court's judgment that removed the party's leadership, leaving it without recognized leadership at a critical time. The ADC's ability to comply with statutory requirements for the elections is contingent on a timely judgment, as the party fears that failure to deliver a decision within the next three days could disenfranchise millions of Nigerians who support the ADC.
