Oxlade Urges Nigerian Artists to Bring Back Five-Minute Songs

Afrobeats artist Oxlade has called for longer songs in the Nigerian music industry, advocating for the return of five-minute tracks. Oxlade's plea, shared on social media, highlights the trend of shorter songs in recent years, contrasting with longer Amapiano tracks from South Africa.

The shift towards shorter songs began around 2019, with artists like Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Rema, Joeboy, Omah Lay, and Ayra Starr releasing hits within the two to three-minute range. Oxlade, known for his hit song "Kulosa," which is 2 minutes and 31 seconds long, aims to bring back the art of longer musical compositions.
