British Council and CITAD Empower 50 Kano Youths

The British Council, in collaboration with the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), launched the Inclusive Economic Empowerment (IEE) Project aimed at equipping 50 young people in Kano with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. This six-month initiative was inaugurated during an orientation exercise in Kano on a Wednesday.
CITAD Senior Programme Officer, Mallam Isa Garba, stated that the project seeks to address unemployment and promote sustainable economic opportunities by providing vulnerable youths with life skills, career guidance, employability skills, and business knowledge. The program includes two main tracks: employability and career readiness, and entrepreneurship and business management.
Participants will receive mentorship and guidance throughout the program, focusing on strategic skills rather than direct financial support. Counsellor Naima Ibrahim emphasized the importance of helping participants make informed career choices, aiming for self-reliance through viable businesses or meaningful employment.
Participant Khadijah Yusuf Alhassan expressed excitement about the program.
