Kano State Revives 11 Entrepreneurship Institutes for Skills
The Kano State Government, under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is revitalizing 11 of its 26 entrepreneurship institutes, which had been largely inactive. This initiative aims to equip citizens with practical skills and foster economic growth.
Dr. Aliyu Isah Aliyu, the Commissioner for Livestock Development and a member of the Steering Committee on Entrepreneurship Institutes, announced that 6,400 beneficiaries have been admitted through a digital portal introduced in July 2026, divided into two cohorts: Batch A and Batch B, each consisting of 3,200 participants. Batch A began training last week across eight institutes, including the Informatics Institute (400 beneficiaries) and Poultry Institute (600).
Three additional institutes will commence training soon. The government has ensured transparency in the admission process and made provisions for accommodation and training equipment for institutes requiring boarding.
The initiative emphasizes women's participation, aiming to empower them economically, and will continue in cycles with subsequent batches.
