British Council and CITAD Launch Youth Training in Kano

The British Council, in collaboration with the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), has initiated a training program for 50 young individuals in Kano state as part of the Inclusive Economic Empowerment (IEE Pathways) Project. This initiative aims to provide young Nigerians with essential employable and entrepreneurial skills, fostering sustainable employment and enterprise development.

CITAD will oversee the implementation of the Kano component, which includes training, mentorship, and facilitation activities. Isa Garba, CITAD Senior Programme Officer and Project Lead, stated that a stakeholders’ engagement meeting was held to inform relevant parties about the project's objectives and structure.

The program targets youth aged 18 to 35, ensuring representation from women, men, and persons with disabilities. Participants will undergo an eight-week foundational skills training, followed by a choice between an employment track lasting 14 weeks or an enterprise track lasting 16 weeks, with post-training internship opportunities provided for those on the employment pathway.
