British Council Launches Film Lab Africa 2 in Nigeria

The British Council has officially launched Film Lab Africa 2, a national film and episodic storytelling program in Nigeria. This initiative targets emerging filmmakers aged 18 to 35 and aims to support their development through a structured pathway that includes online training, mentorship, and access to market opportunities.

The program combines virtual and in-person learning, with a focus on episodic content and TV pilot development. Participants will receive professional training and grants to produce original short films.

The inaugural cohort attracted 600 applications, resulting in 60 selected participants. The program will also ensure inclusivity by providing special provisions for participants with disabilities.

Film Lab Africa 2 aims to strengthen the Nigerian storytelling landscape within the global film ecosystem and create sustainable career opportunities for emerging creatives while fostering cultural collaboration between the UK and Nigeria.
