BUA Cement Reinstates 400 Drivers After Mediation

BUA Cement has reinstated 400 drivers after a mediation effort led by the Edo monarch, Okuokpellagb Okpella. This intervention became necessary following protests by the drivers, which resulted in their dismissal and the shutdown of the company's transport operations, creating significant economic challenges in the community.

The situation had worsened unemployment and hardship among residents. A high-powered delegation, including BUA Group Chairman Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, engaged in extensive discussions to resolve the impasse.

The delegation appealed for leniency, leading to the decision to reinstate the drivers. Additionally, BUA Chairman Rabiu approved the payment of salaries for the period of employment and agreed to pay arrears from January to March.

The monarch also addressed broader community development concerns, including the long-promised construction of a hospital, reiterating the commitment to improve the welfare of the people and create opportunities for the youth.
