Nigeria's Budget Minister Targets $1 Trillion Economy by 2030

Dr. Dori Uzoka, the Budget Minister of Nigeria, called on states to align their economic strategies to achieve the ambitious goal of a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

Speaking at a two-day retreat for the Nigerian Human Capital Development Commission, she emphasized that this target is no longer a distant aspiration but requires immediate concerted action. Uzoka highlighted the importance of shifting from passive implementation to active leadership and encouraged stakeholders to examine their unique economic profiles to identify comparative advantages.

She urged the alignment of local budgets and policies with national priorities to ensure coherent and shared prosperity. Juli Osagi Jacob, the Minister's representative, assured participants of the inclusion of their inputs in the Medium Term National Development Plan 2026-2030.

The retreat also provided a platform for collaboration between federal and state governments, with various presentations on macroeconomic outlooks and strategies for national development.
