Speaker Abba Defends Rejection of Motion to Summon Tinubu

On Wednesday, Speaker Tajudeen Abba of the House of Representatives defended the decision to reject a motion calling for the summoning of President Bola Tinubu. The motion, brought forth by Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, aimed to address the delay in releasing funds for budget implementation by ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

The motion contained five prayers, but Speaker Abba insisted that the original motion did not include a request for the president to be invited to explain the delays. During the deliberation, members of the House shouted down the motion, leading to its dismissal.

Abba emphasized that the House must adhere to its rules regarding the presentation of motions and the inclusion of specific prayers.
