House of Reps Calls for Tinubu's Summon Over Budget Delay

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives experienced a rowdy session as lawmakers clashed over a motion to summon President Bola Tinubu. The motion, raised by Benedict Etanaben, a representative from the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency in Delta State, aimed to address delays in the implementation of the 2025 budget.

Etanaben highlighted a circular issued on June 29 by the Federal Ministry, which directed federal ministries and agencies to halt payment processes for constituency zonal intervention projects unless they were vetted by the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs. He urged the House to invite President Tinubu to explain the delays in implementing the budget and warned that the circular could further frustrate the execution of the Appropriation Act.
