Shehu Denies Buhari's Nomination by Boko Haram

Former presidential spokesman Garba Shehu refuted claims by Goodluck Jonathan that Boko Haram nominated late President Muhammadu Buhari as a mediator for peace talks. Shehu dismissed the assertion, stating that neither Boko Haram founder Mohammed Yusuf nor leader Abubakar Shekau ever proposed Buhari for such a role.

He clarified that the alleged nomination came from a faction in Maiduguri and was later disowned by Shekau and Buhari's party. Shehu emphasized that the claim was false and highlighted Buhari's historical conflict with the group, including a 2014 bomb attack on his convoy in Kaduna.
