Bukola Saraki's Political Influence Resurfaces in Kwara

Bukola Saraki, who served as the governor of Kwara from 2003 to 2011 and as Senate President until 2019, is once again a focal point in Kwara's political landscape. His tenure included initiatives like Shonga Farms and the establishment of Kwara State University.

Saraki's political maneuvering in 2015, where he allied with the opposition PDP to secure the Senate Presidency, showcased his strategic acumen. However, he faced challenges, including a Supreme Court asset declaration case that cleared him in 2018, and the 2019 "O To Ge" movement that led to the loss of his Senate seat.

Recently, several APC members defected to the PDP in Offa, indicating a renewed confidence in Saraki's leadership. This development raises questions about the potential revival of his political network ahead of the 2027 elections.

Although Saraki no longer holds an elective office, his extensive experience in both executive and legislative roles positions him as a significant player in Kwara's evolving political dynamics.
