Bureau of Public Service Reforms' Arabi Advocates Emergency Preparedness

Mr. Dasuki Arabi, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, addressed the need for effective emergency management that extends beyond mere incident response during the Annual Emergency Response and Simulation Summit 2026 in Abuja. He advocated for the establishment of institutions that are prepared, responsive, coordinated, and resilient to emergencies.

Arabi highlighted the necessity for stronger institutions, real-time data, and enhanced inter-agency coordination to bolster Nigeria’s preparedness and response capabilities. He stated that the increasing complexity and frequency of emergencies necessitate a coordinated, innovative, and technology-driven approach involving government and stakeholders.

At the summit, he was honored with an honorary fellowship by the Institute for his contributions to public sector reforms and institutional development. The event also saw the launch of the ECRMI Real-Time Disaster Data Management System Platform, aimed at improving technology use and timely information in emergency management.

Arabi stressed that institutions must be capable of making timely decisions based on credible information.
