Bwala Reveals Obi's Attempt to Recruit Obasanjo for 2023

Daniel Bwala, who currently serves as a special adviser to President Bola Tinubu, disclosed that Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, tried to enlist the support of former Nigerian leader Olusegun Obasanjo ahead of the 2023 elections. During an interview with media personality Daddi Freez, Bwala recounted the circumstances surrounding Obi's political outreach.

He explained that Obi had directly contacted Obasanjo in London, requesting a meeting to discuss his presidential ambitions. However, the call did not go as planned; Obasanjo declined the invitation to align with Obi's campaign.

Bwala noted that Obi's approach was met with skepticism, particularly regarding the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the PDP, which led to criticism from Obi's supporters when he did not secure Obasanjo's backing. This revelation highlights the political maneuvering and alliances sought during the recent electoral cycle in Nigeria.
