By-elections: Pro-Tinubu Group Asks President to Sack Defence Minister, Others, Gives Reason

The Asiwaju Network, a pro-Tinubu support group, has called on President Bola Ahmed to dismiss Defence Minister Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and other underperforming cabinet members following disappointing election results. The group highlighted the minister's lackluster performance in Jigawa state and failure to mobilize grassroots support as reasons for his removal.

They emphasized the need for a stronger political consolidation within the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2027 elections. Despite the defeat of the APC in Badaru's polling unit, the group urged President Tinubu to swiftly reshuffle the cabinet to demonstrate the government's commitment to competence and accountability.

The group also commended APC supporters in Jigawa and Enugu for their resilience in defending the party's relevance.
