Bye-election: Oyo LP Chair alleges INEC omitted candidate from Ibadan North

The Chairman of the Labour Party in Oyo State, Sadiq Atayese, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of omitting their candidate from the upcoming bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency. Atayese expressed his frustration in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, stating that the omission has negatively impacted the party's campaign preparations.

The party has taken the matter to court to compel INEC to include their candidate's name on the ballot. A peaceful protest was also staged at the INEC office to register their displeasure.

The vacant seat in Ibadan North Federal Constituency became available following the passing of Hon. Olaide Akinremi in July 2024.

Atayese emphasized that their candidate has a proven track record and is capable of delivering dividends of democracy to the constituents.
