PDP’s Oyekunle Wins Ibadan North By-Election

PDP's Oyekunle emerged victorious in the Ibadan North by-election, as announced by the Returning Officer early Sunday. Oyekunle garnered the most votes, defeating Adewale Olatunji of the APC by a significant margin.

The seat in Ibadan North became vacant after the death of APC lawmaker Olaide Akinremi on July 10. Governor Seyi Makinde praised Oyekunle's win, stating it would benefit the constituency.

However, the APC has called for the cancellation of the election, citing widespread violence and disruption by armed thugs. The party claimed that over 200 thugs were arrested by the police during the exercise.

The APC alleged voter intimidation and violence, describing the election as a dangerous precedent that goes against the principles of a free, fair, and peaceful poll.
