CAF Increases Champions League and Confederation Cup Prizes

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced an increase in prize money for its competitions, with the winner of the CAF Champions League set to receive USD 6 million (approximately N8.3 billion), marking a 50% increase. Additionally, the victor of the CAF Confederation Cup will earn USD 4 million (around N5.58 billion), reflecting a 100% increase.

This announcement was made by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, who noted that the prize money for the Champions League has risen from USD 2.5 million to USD 6 million, representing a 140% increase over a five-year period.

Similarly, the prize money for the Confederation Cup has increased from USD 1.25 million to USD 4 million, a 220% increase. Overall, the total cash prize allocation for African clubs has reached USD 42 million per season, a 114% increase compared to 2021.
