CAF Fines Mamelodi Sundowns 100,000 for Security Breaches

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed a fine of 100,000 on Mamelodi Sundowns due to significant safety and security breaches that occurred during their CAF Champions League match against Stade Malien in Tshwane. The sanctions were announced following severe violations observed during the encounter, which included overcrowding, inadequate crowd control measures, and unauthorized items entering the stadium.

Additionally, there were shortcomings in the accreditation process. CAF issued a stern warning to the South African club, emphasizing that any future incidents could attract more severe punishments, including the possibility of playing matches behind closed doors if the club fails to address identified security lapses.
