Mamelodi Sundowns Clinch CAF Champions League Title

Mamelodi Sundowns secured their second CAF Champions League title by defeating their opponents 2-1 on aggregate. The decisive second leg, held at Princ Moulai Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, ended in a 1-1 draw.

Sundowns had previously won the first leg 1-0. Captain Moham Rabi Hrimat opened the scoring for the home side in the first half, converting a penalty after a foul by Sundowns' goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

Teboho Mokoena equalized for Sundowns just before halftime, striking the ball into the roof of the net. Despite a second penalty awarded to Hrimat, which Williams saved, Sundowns maintained their aggregate lead.

This victory ends a ten-year wait for a continental title, following their previous triumph in 2014. The win qualifies Sundowns for a cash prize of $6 million and positions them for the 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup and the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, where they will face USM Alger in the 2026 CAF Super Cup scheduled for October 31.
