CAF and East African Nations Prepare for AFCON 2027

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, is aligning plans for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). A high-level preparatory meeting was held in Kampala, attended by sports ministers, football federation presidents, and local organizing committee officials.

This meeting marked a significant milestone in the preparations for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the three countries. CAF's Secretary General praised the host nations for their progress and emphasized the need for strong collaboration and disciplined execution to ensure the tournament's success.

Key discussions included updates on infrastructure development, hospitality, security, and transport networks, as well as the construction and renovation of stadiums. A unified visa system, known as the "Pamoja Visa Framework," was proposed to simplify travel across the three countries, aiming to boost tourism and enhance economic activity during the tournament.
