CAF President Announces Major Changes to AFCON, Introduces African Nations League

The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, revealed significant changes to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), transitioning to a four-year cycle starting from 2027. Additionally, the creation of the African Nations League and a prize money increase for the AFCON winner were announced.

The changes aim to synchronize African football with the global calendar and enhance the competitiveness of the tournament. The final of the 2025 AFCON will be held in Rabat, Morocco, with future hosts yet to be decided.
