CAF President Mourns Mamelodi Sundowns Player Jayden Adams

Dr. Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), mourned the death of South African midfielder Jayden Adams, who played for Mamelodi Sundowns.

Adams, aged 25, was recognized for representing South Africa in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and was part of the Mamelodi Sundowns team that won the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. Motsepe extended condolences on behalf of CAF and its 54 member associations to the South African Football Association (SAFA), its president Dr.

Danny Jordaan, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Adams' family. Adams had recently joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Stellenbosch FC in January 2025 and made his senior international debut in 2022, contributing to South Africa's semi-final run in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.

The South African Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, also expressed profound shock at Adams' passing, which is currently under investigation by the South African police.
