CAF President Motsepe Visits Senegal After AFCON Controversy

Patrice Motsepe, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), visited Senegal on a trip announced to take place at the end of March. This visit comes nearly a month after CAF's shocking decision to strip Senegal of their AFCON title, which they had won with a 1-0 victory over Morocco on January 18.

The reversal cited a record of 3-0 in favor of Morocco due to a match on March 17, during which Senegalese players and their head coach, Pape Thiaw, walked off the pitch. The Senegal Football Federation has appealed CAF's decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which has led to strong reactions from the Senegalese government, including calls for an international investigation into suspected corruption within CAF.

Motsepe's visit emphasizes the importance of collaboration to grow African football amidst these controversies. He is scheduled to meet with Bassir Diomay Fay at the presidential palace in Dakar.
