Motsepe Supports CAF Corruption Probe Amid AFCON Controversy

Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has expressed his support for an investigation into corruption within the organization amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the AFCON title. This follows Senegal's appeal regarding the final match against Morocco, where Senegal was initially declared the winner after a penalty decision led to player protests.

The match, held on January 18, ended with Morocco winning 1-0 after extra time, but CAF overturned the outcome on March 17, awarding the title to Morocco. The situation has led to significant unrest and scrutiny of CAF's leadership, culminating in the resignation of former General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba on March 29.

Motsepe made his position clear during a visit to Dakar, where he met with football officials, emphasizing the need to address corruption within CAF's leadership.
