CAF Declares Morocco AFCON 2025 Winner, Strips Senegal

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday that Senegal has been stripped of the AFCON 2025 trophy, with Morocco declared the winner by a score of 3-0. This decision follows the CAF appeal board's ruling that upheld Morocco's appeal against an earlier decision made by the CAF disciplinary board regarding the final match.

The board found that Senegal's conduct breached Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations. Consequently, Senegal was found to have infringed upon these articles, leading to the forfeiture of the match.

Additionally, Morocco's player Ismaël Saibari received a reduced sanction of a two-match suspension, while an earlier fine of $100,000 imposed on him was canceled. The board also reduced a fine related to Morocco's ball boy conduct from $100,000 to $50,000, while dismissing a request concerning interference around the VAR review area.
