CAF to Conduct AFCON 2027 Qualifying Draw on Tuesday

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to hold the qualifying draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Tuesday, as announced in a statement published on its website. The tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, making it the first AFCON in history to be co-hosted by three nations.

The tournament is scheduled to run from June 19 to July 17, 2027, and will be the first time the Africa Cup of Nations returns to East Africa since Ethiopia hosted it in 1976. A total of 48 nations will participate, divided into 12 groups, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the final tournament.

Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda have already secured their spots as hosts. The qualification matches will occur across three FIFA international windows from September 2026 to March 2027, with key dates including fixtures on September 21, October 6, November 9-17, 2026, and the final matches set for March 22-30, 2027.

CAF aims to enhance regional unity and commercial success through this tournament.
