Obidient Movement Urges Tinubu to Address Obi's Attack

The Obidient Movement has called on President Bola Tinubu to take action following an assassination attempt on Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Justin Ijeh, a member of the Obidient Movement, made this appeal during an interview on Wednesday.

He highlighted that the attack on Obi, which occurred in Benin, Edo State, is part of a troubling pattern of political violence, particularly given the past threats against Obi by Governor Mondai Okpebholo. Ijeh stressed the importance of holding the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) accountable for the security and welfare of Nigerians.

He demanded an independent investigation into the incident, citing concerns over the local police's ability to conduct an impartial inquiry. Furthermore, he urged President Tinubu to publicly condemn the violence and take steps to prevent further political unrest, emphasizing that such actions are crucial for the preservation of democracy and the right to free association in Nigeria.
