Calvin Bassey Embraces Fulham Captaincy Role

Calvin Bassey, a defender for the Super Eagles, has expressed that captaining Fulham is a “privilege” as he leads the Premier League team in their opening three matches of the season. Bassey assumed the captain's armband following an injury to regular skipper Tom Cairney.

In his fourth season with Fulham, he believes that his strong rapport with teammates will aid in his leadership. Bassey stated, “It’s a privilege.

Being able to captain this club is unbelievable,” highlighting his familiarity with the team. He noted that leading comes naturally due to his position as a centre-half, which allows him to see the game from a broader perspective.

Bassey also mentioned that the captaincy has not altered his personality; he prefers to remain calm and positive, especially in challenging situations. He understands the frustrations of his teammates after disappointing results and believes it is best to allow them time to process their emotions before discussing outcomes collectively.
