CAN Warns Cleric Over Remarks on Church Leadership

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) issued a caution to Rev. Isaac Omolehin, founder of the Word Assembly Ministries in Ilorin, regarding his recent public comments that questioned the leadership structure of prominent Nigerian church leaders, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, and Pastor William Kumuyi.

CAN's president, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, described Omolehin's claims about alleged internal divisions and mismanagement of relief funds as false and misleading. The association emphasized that it would not tolerate statements that could undermine the unity of the church and warned Omolehin against making unverifiable claims that could misinform the public.

The caution comes amid a broader debate on social media regarding church leadership in Nigeria, with Omolehin suggesting that the church is divided along denominational lines. CAN firmly stated that it would take necessary steps, including legal action, to protect the integrity of the Christian community if such falsehoods continue.
