Obi Defends Pastor Adeboye, Urges Unity Among Youth

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and a presidential candidate, defended Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, amidst social media attacks. Obi warned Nigerian youth against the dangers of ethnic and religious divisions, urging them to promote national unity instead.

He addressed a viral photograph that purportedly showed Adeboye holding a placard during protests against the federal government, clarifying that the image was taken during a peaceful walk organized during former President Goodluck Jonathan's administration and had no political protest message. Obi criticized politicians who exploit ethnic and religious sentiments for personal gain, stating that such tactics undermine national unity.

He called on young Nigerians to take responsibility for driving change in the country and to verify information before participating in narratives that could be manipulated. Obi reaffirmed that Pastor Adeboye has consistently preached peace, unity, and reconciliation throughout his ministry.
