Canada Draws 1-1 with Bosnia for First World Cup Point

Canada achieved its first-ever point in a World Cup match by drawing 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The match took place in Toronto, where Bosnia initially took the lead in the 21st minute through Jovo Lukic's header from a corner delivered by Sead Kolasinac.

Canada struggled to equalize, with Jonathan David and Tani Oluwaseyi missing key chances in the first half. In the second half, Cyle Larin, who had just entered the match, scored in the 78th minute, bringing the co-hosts level and sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

This draw marks the first time Canada has avoided defeat in a World Cup match, having previously lost all three games in 1986 and again in 2022. Bosnia and Herzegovina had previously secured a penalty shootout win to qualify for the playoffs against Wales and Italy.
