Canada eTA Cost Set at CAD $7 for Travelers

The Government of Canada has confirmed that the cost for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) is CAD $7 (approximately N6,710.74) for visa-exempt nationals planning to travel to Canada by air. This requirement applies to citizens of countries that do not need a traditional visa, including the United Kingdom, Australia, and several European nations.

The eTA is a compulsory step for eligible travelers before boarding a flight to Canada. Once approved, the eTA is electronically linked to the applicant's passport and remains valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, allowing multiple entries as long as each stay does not exceed six months.

The application process is conducted entirely online, requiring a valid passport, a working email address, and a credit or debit card for payment. Personal information such as travel history and employment details must also be provided.

Most eTA applications are approved within minutes, but some may take longer if additional documentation is needed. Canadian authorities recommend applying before booking flights to prevent travel disruptions.
