Canada is actively seeking experienced skilled workers, including Nigerians, to apply for permanent residence as part of a renewed initiative to tackle critical labor shortages and bolster key sectors. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced this development via X, emphasizing that the recruitment drive is designed to meet diverse workforce needs across the country and promote long-term economic growth.

Central to this initiative is the Express Entry system, which manages applications and issues invitations to skilled workers in priority categories. This system enables Canada to focus on professionals whose skills align with current labor market gaps in essential industries such as healthcare and trades.

The IRCC encourages interested candidates to create their Express Entry profile and begin preparations, which include credential assessments for qualifications obtained outside Canada, approved language testing in English or French, and settlement planning.
