IRCC Unveils Six Steps for Foreign Work Permit Applications

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has published a six-step guide for foreign nationals seeking to apply for a Canadian work permit from outside the country. The process begins with applicants checking for any special instructions that may affect their application.

The second step involves signing in to an existing IRCC secure account or creating a new one, as the application is managed through this platform. Applicants must then complete an online questionnaire that generates a personalized document checklist, followed by scanning or photographing required documents for upload.

The fourth step requires payment of fees, which may be exempt for some individuals. Submitting a complete application is crucial, as incomplete submissions risk outright refusal.

Finally, the sixth step involves providing biometrics, applicable only to certain applicants who must wait for a biometrics instruction letter before booking an appointment. The IRCC also notes that some applications are currently prioritized for processing.
